Happy Birthday Sunshine

As soon as I saw the Ray of Sunshine I just knew I had to have it!   So many amazing sentiments.   This week Stampin' Royalty brings us a sketch challenge and it just works perfectly with this amazing stamp set.

The sunshine was a little tricky.   Let's just say I didn't have much luck lining up the points by just stamping the images!   So instead crazy me cut out each individually and adhered them to the paper and then proceed to cut them out a second time when I cut the sun out in it's entirety.

The challenge will be open 3:00pm (PST) August 4th. Hope you can join us!

Ingredients to make the card:
Stamp Sets:  Ray of Sunshine
Ink:  So Saffron
Paper:   Whisper White, Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper

CASEing - Memory Keeping

This is the 2nd week of CASE-ing the Catty challenges!   This week we will be challenging everyone to CASE a project from the Memory Keeping section of the catalog.   For us in the US, that would be catalog pages 24-41.

Can I just tell you how much I enjoying these challenges.   I actually scrapbooked!  My niece and nephew took pictures this past May and I have been wanting to sit down and scrapbook them and now I had the perfect opportunity.    How adorable are my niece and nephew!!

Thanks to the Stampin' Up! catalog, I also had my layout complete.   All I needed to do was substitute what I didn't have with something different and viola the page is done.

I CASE'ed the project below which is featured on page 30 of the catalog.

To make the polaroid that has my niece in it.   First I cut out a rectangle.   Then I drew the square I wanted for my polaroid opening.    Since I do not have square framelits,  I then used my square punch to do my cutting of the polaroid insert.   The tag came from the Two Tags Sizzex.   I die cut the large tag and then used it as a template to cut out my title tag.

Just goes to show with a little ingenuity you can use the products in your closet until win the Mega Millions and can buy everything in the catty!

Hope you can join in our weekly challenges of CASEing the Catty.    Why bang your head try to create something new when Stampin' Up! has hundred of ideas in the catalog!

The challenge will be open until next Friday at 5 A.M. EST.     I hope I am doing the time conversion correctly from the US and Australia.   Bear with me as I get this whole time zone down pat.   Hope you can join us!   Click here to submit your CASE'ed project.

Christmas in July

As crafters we love getting a jump start on crafting projects before the season is upon us.    That is why Christmas in July is a perfect time to get started thinking and working on Holiday projects.   When December rolls around we won't have time to create the beautiful works of art we want, so it is great when we have some time to start working on projects ahead of time and getting them done.
Paperless Post is celebrating Christmas in July and has asked me to create a few fun projects to celebrate the occasion.   I jumped on the chance to work on it, I am always saying I am going to do Christmas projects in July and get a head start, but like so many of us.   Thanksgiving is here and I realized I haven't made my Christmas cards!!

So here is a full Christmas in July themed ensemble with decor, menu and cards.      Each project is detailed below along with a link list on the bottom if you want to get some of them items and get started yourself.

CASE-ing the Catty Design Team

I am super excited to let you know I am part of the CASE-ing the Catty Design Team.    We all know how amazing the Stampin' Up! catalog is and how much inspiration we all draw from it yearly when it comes out!   Well now I am going to be a part of an amazing design team from all over the World that will showcasing WEEKLY all the amazing projects in the catalog with our own little spin on them.    You will find that we will draw inspiration from the projects themselves, the colors or just the sketch.

To join in the challenges as well as see weekly inspiration, please click here to visit the site.    Please note there is a time difference so if you do not see the challenge posted on Friday, check back a few hours later and it will be up.

The first challenge is to CASE a project from the Gift and Packaging section of the catalog.   That would be pages 6-23 in the catalog.

I decided to draw inspiration from the beautiful yellow polka dot box on page 7 of the catalog.   What can I say I was drawn to the fun polka dots, they just make me smile.    Instead of kraft box, I decided to dress up a Tag a Bag Gift Box.

To cover the Tag a Bag Gift Box, I took a piece of 4 1/4" x 7" cardstock and then score it one inch on both side.   I then decorated with doily and designer series paper.    The trick is to insert the cardstock insert inside the plastic first and then slide both in together.   If you do them separately you risk the chance of the doily being damaged.    The bow was created and attached to the top of the plastic insert.

The challenge will be open until next Friday at 5 A.M. EST.     I hope I am doing the time conversion correctly from the US and Australia.   Bear with me as I get this whole time zone down pat.   Hope you can join us!   Click here to submit your CASE'ed project.

Ingredients to make the gift box:
Stamp Sets:  Sumthin' Sumthin'
Ink:   Bermuda Bay

Accessories:  Pearls, Baker's Twine, Doily, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, Tag a Bag Gift Box
