Happy Birthday Michael!

Today is my nephew's 3rd birthday! I can't believe how big he is getting. In honor of his day, here is a scrapbook page I made with pictures of his first day of preschool. He is so proud going to school with his big sis Julie.
Happy Birthday Michael!
Ingredients to make the scrapbook page:
Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft, Real Red Craft
Paper: Sweet Pea and Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Stickers from a local craft store, Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, 5/16" Chocolate Chip Brads, Retired On Board Chipboard Letters, On Board Tweet
Tools: 1/2" and 3/4" circle punch, Owl Punch, Tasteful Trim Sizzex, Label Maker, Big Shot, Sponge Daubers

Special Touches: The owl is from the retired chipboard, On Board Tweet. Instead of the hearts for eyes which is what the chipboard comes as. I made my own using the circle punches and the circles in the owl punch. The vest was totally free form. I punched out the owl vest and then began to cut using it as a guide. Craft ink was sponged on the chipboard to give color. First day of school tag came courtesy of my label maker.

Love Banner

My mom decided to dress up the house for Valentine's Day. To say the least neither one of us actually owns any Valentine's Day decorations. So we have some red placemats and towels and of course these very cute curtains. So inspired by the curtains, I decided to make this cute love banner. I have to say I really like the way it came out.

In between each letter, I took some wire and strung some Pretties in between. You know all the things in the Pretties kit you have no idea how you are going to get rid of. Well after putting like 7 beads in between each letter, there is still so many beads left!!!
This banner is actually perfect for this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge. The challenge is bows. There is a total of 8 bows on this project!

So here is the ingredients to make the love banner as well as some close up shots.
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (retired)
Accessories: Pretties Kit, White Taffeta Ribbon, Rhinestones
Tools: Crop-a-dile, Glue Gun, Big Shot, Serif Essentials Sizzex, Hearts & Brackets Sizzex, Bird Punch, Elegant Bouquet Textured Impression Embossing Folder, Square Scallops Square Duo

Trying a New Technique

I decided to try a new technique in honor of Shelli's contest this month. I found this in an old magazine and decided to give it a try. It is masking a background stamp set and pairing it up with heat embossing. So the first thing you need to do is punch a circle on a scrap piece of paper and use that as your mask. Next lay your mask on top of the red paper you want to stamp on. Next using versamark stamp the background stamp. Sprinkle some heat embossing powder and heat emboss and you have your circle background image.

So here is my finished product along with the ingredients to make it:
Stamp Sets: XOXO, You're a Gem
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series Paper, Whisper White, Real Red and Pretty in Pink
Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Pretty in Pink Brads and Gingham Ribbon
Tools: Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Square Lattice Textured Impression Embossing Folder, Heart to Heart Punch, Pinking hearts border punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

I think I am finally back on track and able to participate in challenges. This week Pals Paper Arts brings us a color challenge. The color challenge is Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze and Perfect Plum. I also decided with this card to incorporate Shelli's New Year's challenge. The challenge is start the new year off by trying something new this month--a new technique, a new product, a new medium. . . anything new. I decided to dust off my aqua painters and try my hand at water coloring. I have to say once I started, I couldn't stop. It wasn't as intimidating as I thought! The key is use a thicker card stock, like our water color paper or confetti white. The next thing is use use your reinkers. Another tip is to use Staz-on ink or wait for the Basic Black ink to dry before you start watercoloring.

So I am happy to say after some trial and error here is my card along with the ingredients to make it:
Stamp Sets: Awash with Flowers, For All You Do
Ink: Black Staz-on, Baja Breeze, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz
Paper: Baja Breeze Patterns Designer Series Paper, Confetti White, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Baja Breeze Seam Binding and Buttons
Tools: Scallop Border Punch, Aqua Painter
